Our Privacy Commitment to You

We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the confidentiality of your personal information. This statement sets out the Privacy Policy for LightingWay Counselling & Therapy LLP with respect to the collection, use and/or disclosure of your personal data. This statement is provided in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (No. 26 of 2012) (‘PDPA’). Please note that this Privacy Policy complements, and does not limit or replace, the purposes for which you provide us with your personal data which may be expressly stated in any form for submission of personal data to us.

The types of personal health information we collect may include your name, contact information, addresses, date of birth, medical history, name of any health service provider or medical specialist to whom you are referred, and records of the care provided to you. We collect, use and disclose personal health information for the following purposes:

  • to provide counselling and/or psychotherapy to our clients

  • to obtain payment for services provided from you, your private insurer or others

  • to conduct quality improvement and risk management activities

  • to comply with our regulatory obligations to our regulatory associations

  • to advise clients about special events or opportunities (but we will always obtain your consent to do so)

  • for other purposes permitted by law.

We will collect, use and disclose only as much personal health information as is needed to achieve these purposes. You can withhold or withdraw your consent to the collection, use or disclosure of your personal health information by contacting us.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is an essential part of all counselling and psychotherapy. It underpins the client's sense of safety and trust and contributes to making the therapeutic relationship different from any other. LightingWay Counselling & Therapy LLP holds all records securely and will ensure confidentiality in the treatment of any information held about its clients. All information recorded and held is solely for the purpose of maintaining effective therapeutic treatment.

All information will be kept confidential unless the client and therapist agree to discuss something with a third party. Where appropriate a consent form will be used. The only reasons for breaking confidentiality would be if the therapist considered that your life was at risk, if another person's life was at risk or if the therapist was liable to civil or criminal court proceedings if the information was not disclosed. If at all possible, this would be discussed beforehand.
